Scholarships

The Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is proud to award scholarships to outstanding women who exemplify academic achievement, leadership, and a commitment to excellence.

For more than 50 years, our chapter has invested in educational advancement by awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships annually to students and adult learners across Middle Tennessee. These scholarships reflect our enduring belief that education is a powerful tool for empowerment, opportunity, and community transformation.

Scholarships are awarded to individuals who reside within our service areas serves the City of Nashville and the counties of Davidson, Robertson, Sumner, Williamson, Maury, and Wilson. Each scholarship has distinct eligibility requirements, which are outlined below and further detailed in the official scholarship application materials.

NMAC HBCU Scholarship

NMAC HBCU Scholarship supports students who are progressing toward degree completion while attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in Nashville, Tennessee. This scholarship is available to students who have completed at least 60 credit hours or are classified as juniors and are currently enrolled at Tennessee State University, Fisk University, or American Baptist College. Through this award, the scholarship affirms a commitment to academic excellence, persistence, and the continued legacy of HBCUs by investing in students who demonstrate dedication to their education and potential for leadership and service.

NMAC Undergraduate Sorority Member Scholarship

Undergraduate Sorority Member Scholarship is available to undergraduate members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. who are currently enrolled at a college or university in Nashville, Tennessee. Eligible students must be attending Fisk University, Tennessee State University, Belmont University, or Vanderbilt University. This scholarship supports academic achievement, leadership development, and continued engagement in sisterhood and service while pursuing higher education.

NMAC Uplift Scholarship

Student Experiencing Homelessness & Foster Youth Scholarship is available to high school seniors and undergraduate students enrolled in or planning to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university who are currently unhoused or who are foster youth that have aged out of the foster care system. This scholarship is open to students residing in the City of Nashville and the counties of Davidson, Robertson, Sumner, Williamson, Maury, and Wilson who are currently experiencing homelessness or have past experience with homelessness and who are working with the HERO Program and/or are identified under the McKinney-Vento Act. This scholarship is intended to support students overcoming housing instability by helping remove financial barriers and promoting continued access to higher education.

Alice Outlaw Memorial Scholarship

​The Alice Outlaw Memorial Scholarship honors the life and legacy of Alice Outlaw, who passed on June 18, 2018, after many years of devoted service to the Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She crossed Gamma Omega Chapter at Meharry Medical College in 1956 and dedicated her professional life to nursing as a Registered Nurse, exemplifying compassion, excellence, and commitment to care before retiring from the field. Beyond her career, Alice Outlaw found joy in reading and creative pursuits, and she lived by her favorite quote, “All things are possible if you believe.” This scholarship is awarded annually to a collegiate member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated pursuing an undergraduate degree in nursing or a related health field, carrying forward her enduring legacy of service, faith, and healing.
